This web site was set originally to record bits of footballing history that don’t get written up elsewhere.  With regards Arsenal we put this under “Arsenal articles” showing a rare insight for logic.  Then we started to find materials for other teams, and keeping to the brief of covering what other people didn’t cover much, we put this in the STUPIDITY FILES.

The stupidity files – latest…

Latest articles in our unique “Stupidity” section, recording all the insanity of football where ever and however it happens.  (Click on Stupidity on the links top left)

  • Guardian totally conned by 30 year old spoof story

  • Newcastle – Fat Fred and Big Sam, all the comments and quotes

  • Chelsea in 2007 – you couldn’t make this up.

We told you so – as we predicted on the day this site was opened (one day before the Wengerdrome was named the Emirates in fact) Arsenal were not going to get just a new stadium, they were going to get a lot more marketing too.

A study of stupidity in football, from Macclesfield to Man U, Liverpool to Cardiff, plus a special feature on Tottenham Hotspur.  Click on “stupidity” on the left.

This site contains the following

  • Articles about Arsenal and football – such as how we got promotion in 1919, and why we moved to Highbury.  These articles contain original research and revelations that are not published anywhere else.  (Click Arsenal Articles on the left)

  • Articles about Arsenal’s finances – again including analyses that don’t appear elsewhere.  (Again click Arsenal articles on the left)

  • Some other matters – not always with an Arsenal connection – in Football articles.

  • A collection of some of the really daft things people do in football.

As is quite obvious this is not an official or endorsed site of either Arsenal FC, nor Emirates Airlines.  It is just a place where Arsenal fans comment on all matters football.   If you are looking for the official Arsenal site click here.

But if you want to read articles on Arsenal that simply do not appear anywhere else, welcome to the WengerDrome

Why the WengerDrome?   We first came up with the name before the stadium opened – sometime around the Charlton home game in the 2005/6 season, when pictures were widely available of the new stadium.  At first no one really noticed the name, but since the 2006/7 began and we actually got inside we noticed other people using the word as an appropriate name for the stadium.   We think it’s a hell of a lot better than any other name, so that’s what we call it.

The Arsenal (the club for Arsenal supporters) has 185,000 paid up members – making it the largest supporters club in the world.  This site is dedicated to each and every one of these members.
