This is the 3rd Arsenal defeat I have reviewed this year, on each previous occasion I have praised the Ref despite the result, and this game is no different. What is frustrating, and becoming too much to be coincidence, is that on each occasion the defining moment in each game was from the Ref. At home V Liverpool the first goal was offside and a penalty by Carragher was missed. At spurs the VDV goal was handball, and at Swansea the penalty was a foul on Ramsey by Dyer. I felt Dyer simulated and should have been cautioned, the other reviewers voted me down. The stuff about in real time it looked like a penalty, well not to me it didn’t, The fall was wrong, and Ramseys feet were both on the floor, my instincts said “dive” and I was right.
However despite this let me say, Oliver had a good game, he made some good calls and I feel he will develop into a very good Ref, but he is not quite there yet. Once again Arsenal and Swansea played the game in the right spirit, with players staying on their feet and not flying into tackles. No cautions was a fair reflection. Just a shame about that one big call.
