For the game between Wolverhampton and Chelsea we had ref Peter Walton. The crowd didn’t like his performance but how did our ref reviewer rated his performance?

A supplemental note from myself is that when you come at the bottom of the ref review you will see that I have tried to bring some change to the additional ratings of the ref. I will not bore you with the details behind this change but believe me it is only to allow us to stick our nose even deeper in whatever mud we can find about the refs.

“The Premier League is full of Shit”, sing the Wolves fans.

This was an astonishingly bad performance from Peter Walton, the first half was spoilt by his dereliction of duty, he was so biased to Chelsea it was an embarrassment to the laws of the game. in the second half he seemed determined to make up for the amount of bad calls against Wolves in the first half, and swung the other way, but not to the extent that he favoured Chelsea.

The decision not to red Card Lampard was wrong; he has justified full frontal, stud showing tackles that miss the ball and crash into the opponents shins to all who play the game. He not only let himself down he let every Ref in the country down with his cowardice. How Cashley Tweedy was not cautioned in the first half was equally baffling, there were two easy yellows but being an England International saves you many a yellow card. Tweedy was much restrained in the second half, someone had a word in his ear I guess.

The decision to caution Henry was wrong, the decision to caution Doyle could be justified, but not in the context of what Chelsea players were getting away with. Doyle did throw the ball at Tweedy, but in a manner that was to pass it to him, there was no aggression. The decision not to caution Jarvis I thought was apologetic, for all he done wrong to Wolves prior to the Jarvis foul.

It may not look like it but I have been generous to Walton, there were two other cautions that I have gone with him on, the Foul by Steedman on 4 and Tweedy on 28 were also cautionable, but I gave Walton the benefit of interpretation.

All in all a bad day for Walton, a bad day for Refs, a bad for the EPL and a bad day for the paying public, who broke into a chorus of “THE PREMIER LEAGUE IS FULL OF SHIT” on more than one occasion.

Aditional remarks about the new format at the end. I was hoping it would be mud we had to stick our nose in but apparently it is shit. Oh well, sticking in is what we will do.

With this model we should be able to make a difference between what we could consider not that important wrong decisions (all wrong decisions are important in fact!) and the more important one in a second. If you see e.g. NC FA WOL 1= Not Correct in Favour of Wolves counting for 1 in the weight scale. NC FA WOL 2= Not Correct in Favour of Wolves counting for 2 in the weight scale (yellow cards) NC FA WOL 3= Not Correct in Favour of Wolves counting for 3 in the weight scale (red/penalty/goal). Obviously if you see CHE somewhere this means Chelsea.

In this case we can see that the normal mistakes are nicely divided at the end of the game with 50% going against each team. This is the normal fouls somewhere in the middle of the field. But when we look at the important decisions we see that Chelsea was getting a lot from the ref. 66.67% of those important (yellow/red/penalties/goals) went in favour of Chelsea and thus 33.33% only went in favour of Wolves.

And if we take all the wrong calls together this means that Chelsea had a benefit against Wolves.

And all this can be seen divided over both halves also. So you can see that the ref was in love with Chelsea in the first half when it came to wrong calls but changed it around a bit in the second half.

So a change at the end of the reviews. Hope you like it. If not let us know. Now Dogface, where do I have to put my nose in? In that? No you can’t be serious? Oh, you are… okay…wish me luck…..
