This is the second statistical analysis of the way in which football (mostly from an Arsenal perspective) actually works.

This table looks at all competitions from beginning of season 2011-2012 to 23 November 2011. Method of calculation the same as in article are given in the earlier article.

What a surprise!  Yossi Benayoun is third in table! Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is fourth!  Carl Jenkinson is more effective than Tomas Rosicky, Marouane Chamakh, André Santos and Mikel Arteta!

That was in all competitions. But how these guys do their things in EPL only?

Alex Song is third. Marouane Chamakh is our fifth most effective player. Yossi Benayoun  and Andrei Arshavin obviously show their  productivity at some other places.

Let’s take a look at some additional numbers for EPL games.

I think that information like shots on target per goal generally just mirrors the style of  the players. The most impotent indicator of efficiency is goals and assists per game.

So I suppose the most effective attacking players of Arsenal which played 6 games and more is:

In all competitions:

(G+A)/Game
Robin Van Persie

1,21

Gervinho

0,71

Aaron Ramsey

0,47

Alex Song

0,38

Theo Walcott

0,37

Andrei Arshavin

0,3

Carl Jenkinson

0,26

Mikel Arteta

0,23

André Santos

0,23

In the EPL:

(G+A)/Game
Robin Van Persie

1,41

Gervinho

0,78

Alex Song

0,56

Aaron Ramsey

0,45

Theo Walcott

0,38

Mikel Arteta

0,33

Robin Van Persie is beyond compare. Gervinho played very well particularly given that it is the beginning of his first season. Song is fantastic considering that he is a DM. Aaron Ramsey is gradually moveing up. Theo Walcott is regaining his previous brilliant form.

Carl Jenkinson, Mikel Arteta and André Santos – welcome to Arsenal. And do you remember rates of Yossi Benayoun and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from the first table of this article – they didn’t play  so much but were very very effective. Overall we are pretty effective in offence department and I love it.
